Client Spotlight: Martha’s Thriving Backyard Kitchen Garden in Denver, Colorado
There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing a garden we’ve planted together come back season after season: stronger, fuller, and more loved than ever. Today I’m excited to share a peek into my client Martha’s backyard kitch garden in Denver, Colorado, where her hard work, creativity, and consistency have created a thriving little oasis.
From Garden Coaching to Garden Thriving
Martha first joined me a few seasons ago for hands-on garden coaching. Together, we prepped, planted, and nurtured her space… and season by season, her confidence has grown right alongside her plants.
In previous seasons, Martha enlisted Auntie M’s to help with her garden design and buildout, plus seasonal planting and garden maintenance.
This year, she decided to go the self-serve route, using what she’s learned from our past seasons together, plus the guides and blog updates I send out to the Auntie M’s Garden community.

One of my favorite things about Martha’s garden is the intentional layout.
She’s using deep, sturdy raised beds that make it easy to manage the soil, improve drainage, and keep weeds at bay. The clean gravel pathways give her plenty of space to walk between beds comfortably, making harvests a joy instead of a hassle.
And just look at those beds! A mix of leafy greens, towering sunflowers, bright chard, dill, and artichoke all living side by side: proof that with the right foundation, you can grow a diverse and abundant garden in a small footprint.

Martha’s garden shows how every season adds a new layer of knowledge. The trellises in her beds are ready to support climbing plants, while her mix of textures and heights creates not only a productive space but a truly beautiful focal point in her yard.
This is the kind of space that makes you want to step outside every morning—whether it’s to snip herbs for breakfast or just soak in the beauty of what you’ve grown.
